There was a lot of work involved in creating my new bathroom. I had no bath and decided that I wanted to revert back to a normal bathroom, with bath, shower in bath, wash-hand basin and toilet. I also decided on a new central heating radiator which suited the bathroom.
However the bathroom was completely tiled throughout, therefore the walls had to be taken down completely and new walls built. This was after carefully removing the toilet and part of the existing built in units and a couple of floor tiles. (This was a saving for me, as my cloakroom toilet on the ground floor had a leaking cistern and as it was a coloured suite, of toilet and wash-hand basin, I would have had to buy a completely new suite – and I did not like any of the small wash-hand basins on offer. Igor had suggested using the toilet from upstairs, a brilliant idea.)
Once the new walls were up , the new bath was placed – however I wanted the bath taps at the end away from the shower – so that required some
precise plumbing, but Igor was up to the challenge.
I did not want the whole bathroom to be tiled, just at the shower end and the side of the bath – everywhere else only half way up the wall with a trim along the top. The rest of the walls required plastering which again Igor did well, with a neat trim round the window.
It was all finished off with floor tiles, which completed the bathroom to perfection and left me decidedly happy.
Igor then moved to the downstairs cloakroom and took out the old toilet and cistern and built up the wooden unit to fit the toilet from upstairs. It required quite a bit of joinery work, but was very neatly finished. He also laid the floor tiles he had saved from upstairs and correctly put the toilet on the top of these.
All the work was done neatly and cleanly and I am delighted with the finished result.
